AP Physics B Review Exercise 1

Covers material in chapters 1 and 2 of the Text

Name: ______________________________________________

If you must leave the room for any reason (get water, etc.) do so now – not after the review exercise has been distributed.

¢ No talking to anyone except me once I begin distributing the review exercise.

¢ This exercise is closed book; no references of any kind are allowed.

¢ Clear your desk of everything except this exercise.

¢ Place your name on this page; do not open the exercise until told to do so.

¢ You can use only a pencil or pen. Calculators or any other type of equipment cannot be used.

¢ You cannot use cell phones or any other type of messaging device; they must be placed out of sight.

¢ If you need extra space, continue on the back. Clearly indicate that a problem is being continued and label the continuation.

¢ If necessary, I will clarify any question; I will not, however, provide definitions of terms you are expected to know.

If you have a question, remain seated, refer to the page and bullet number, and state the question. I will respond to the entire class.

¢ Write legibly – answers that cannot be read will be counted as incorrect.

¢ Responses to questions

Ø For problems that require calculations, your work must be clearly shown.

Ø For fill-in-the blank problems, just provide the correct answer

Ø For true-false problems, just place a check mark by the correct one

Ø If told to provide rationale for a particular response, then explain the logic used to arrive at the solution

¢ This exercise consists of the following sections

1. Definitions

2. Units

3. Measurements, Uncertainty, and Significant Figures

4. Dimensions and Dimensional Analysis

5. Kinematics Equations for Constant Acceleration

¢ You will be provided a handout similar to one that will be available during the free-response portion of the AP exam

Ø Do not place any marks on it

Ø Return the handout to me, along with the review exercise, at the end of the period or when you finish

¢ You cannot leave if you finish early; work on labs or read the assignments-no talking or otherwise making distracting noises.
