Publishing To Web Site

Details

The first step in publishing files is to set the remote website. There are several scenarios for determining your remote website.

If you stop the publishing process in progress, files that have already been published will remain on the remote website.

By default, all files are marked for publishing. By using Remote Web Site view in Microsoft Expression Web, you can choose which files will be published and which will be held back.

To set the remote website

  1. In the Remote Web Site view, click Remote Web Site Properties.

  2. In the Remote Web Site Properties dialog box, on the Remote Web Site tab, under Remote Web server type, select FrontPage Server Extensions, WebDav, FTP, or File System.

  3. In the Remote Web site location box, type the Internet address, including the protocol, of the remote website that you want to publish folders and files to — for example, ftp://www.example.com — or click Browse to locate the site.

  4. Optional: To use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), click Use Encrypted Connection (SSL).

To use SSL connections on your web server, the server must be configured with a security certificate from a recognized certificate authority.
