Selection for State (Quote from Regional Evaluators)
The State science Fair allots each Regional Fair a specific number of slots for students each year. Our Regional Fair judges rank projects within each category. Each category is given a percentage of "to state slots" according to the size of the category. Depending upon the quality of projects within a category, slots are negotiated between categories to try to send the very best in the Fair. First place in each category is the only placement which is guaranteed a slot to State.
