Creating a Web Site
Organization: Developing an Initial Outline
Ø Purpose (information, selling, personal, etc.)
It is essential to define the purpose of the website as one of the first steps in the planning process. A purpose statement should show focus based on what the website will accomplish and what the users will get from it. A clearly defined purpose will help the rest of the planning process as the audience is identified and the content of the site is developed.
Ø Audience
Ø Name or title of the site (goes on home page)
Ø WWW name of the site (not necessarily same as above) - the site name you will register
Ø Major content categories
Ø Outline of Home page to include
] Graphics
] Major Links (to major content categories above)
Ø Template you plan to start with
File, New, Web Site

Select one of the pre-packaged Dynamic Web Templates (DWTs) on the right and add to current web site.
File, New, DWT
Save as: Give the template a meaningful name
Insert 3 layers
1. Background
2. Title Bar
3. Text Area
Use the Positioning and Borders and Shading links in the layers table
Use the Cascading Style Sheet
