Help and Absences

General

 

If you have questions concerning a lesson, please ask me during class. If it is appropriate to cover the material then, I will do so. Sometimes, however, a topic in computer science is best addressed at a later section of the course. If this is the case, I will give a brief summary and delay the details.

 

My approach is to cover the essentials of the lesson and then assign representative problems.

 

Highlights of my presentations are always available on this site, both as notes and as portions of the manual that I have prepared for each course.

 

Your responsibilities include keeping up with the reading assignments and paying attention in class. Once problems are assigned, I will continue to respond to reasonable questions. I will not, however, tell you how to work an assigned problem.

 

If you need additional instruction or help in any area, I am available most days both before and after school and during some periods according to the class schedule. I usually arrive before 6 am and leave around 5 pm. My schedule during the day is listed below. Please see me to schedule a time; the best time to ask a question is when the difficulty first occurs.

 

If you have an excused absence during a lab submision period, give me a typed note with the date of absences and rationale.

Absences

In order to avoid losing points for a late lab assignment, you should submit a separate typed and signed memo that incorporates the following:

 

Days absent.

Rationale.

 

This should be submitted as soon as the absence has been identified or as soon thereafter as possible. The rationale given will influence whether consideration is given.
