Names of Team Members_______________________________________________________

Equipment Provided per team

1. One breadboard

2. One 9 V battery with connector

3. One resistor

4. One multimeter with prongs

5. One box of wire connectors

6. One notebook with various data

Requirements

1. Using the breadboard with the 9 volt battery, connect the resistor in series.

Get approval of the setup before continuing. After approval, obtain initials of instructor below.

    Initials of instructor:___________________________

2. Use the multimeter provided to measure the following - place the answer on the line following

each requirement, along with correct units

     a.  The resistance of the resistor ___________________

     b.  The voltage drop across the resistor ____________________

     c.  The current flowing in the circuit ____________________________

3. Using the chart in the notebook provided each team, determine

      a.  The stated resistance of the resistor ______________________

      b.  The stated tolerance of the resistor____________________

4. Compare the results of item 3 with the measured resistance of the resistor from part 2a and  state whether it is or is not within the stated tolerance.

Respond to this requirement in the space below.

5.  Use the measured current and measured resistance from part 2 to calculate the expected voltage drop across the resistor in accordance with Ohm's law.

      Provide calculations below.

6. Compare the calculated voltage drop from part 5 with the measured voltage drop from part 2b and explain any differences.

Provide your calculations and response in the space below.
